Acute Core Pulmonale - Film n°10

TEE in a female patient on controlled ventilation because of ARDS caused by bacterial lung disease. On day 2 of mechanical ventilation, the long-axis view of the LV reveals dilatation of the RV and septal hypokinesia, without significant restriction of the LV. The patient’s circulatory status did not necessitate infusion of vasoactive drugs.
